About Tiaan Pretorius
I have been sport addict since the moment i can remember as a very young boy.
A competitive athlete.
Grew up competing in athletics (all dicceplines), cricket, rugby, golf, gymnastics, swimming, tennis and even surfed for a couple of years.
Played club rugby till injury forced me to stop and then moved over to playing club cricket after a good long rest.
Picked up my running shoes again in 2009 to finish my 1st ever half marathon, Two Oceans 21,1km but not to long after that achievement i started swimming and doing spin classes when a friend told me about Ironman70.3.
Within 8 months i've gone from my 1st triathlon (Freshpak Fitness Festival) to Ironman South Africa 2010 completing many triathlons like BSG (Sprint Tri), Jailbreak, WP Trial (Olympic Distance) and Ironman 70.3 (Half Ironman aka Tin Man).
At the end of the day, Tiaan could and will never get stuck on only one sport.
Just simply not in my nature.

Why Triathlon?
I feel that training for a triathlon is a lot better for your body then a single sport.
Here is my rationale:
Running tones your legs and belly, burns a lot of calories and is great for your circulatory system.
Swimming concentrates on toning your upper body, working your chest, shoulders and back. Swimming also greatly increases your lung capacity and helps circulation, surprisingly just as much as running.
Cycling builds and defines your legs - letting your quads really show.
Why brutalize your body by focusing on only one sport? By training for triathlons you will be evenly distributing all of that stress from a few locations to your whole body. This way, as a whole, your body is not stressed but happy.
Happy bodies are good.
